Jamestown Police Department
The JAMESTOWN RI POLICE DEPARTMENT is currently seeking certified police officers to apply for the position of per diem patrol officer. Per diem police officers are covered under the Retired Officer Corps policy. This allows for retired certified police officers to work as needed for patrol, traffic enforcement, marine patrol and private details.
Municipal Police Training Academy
The Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy (RIMPTA) was established in 1969 to train and certify all municipal police officers, except those for the City of Providence. Additionally, the Academy was given the responsibility of training police officers from several state agencies that have law enforcement powers. The Rhode Island Police Officers Commission on Standards and Training (POST), with the approval of the Commissioner of Public Safety, establishes the courses of training and sets rules and regulations relative to the education, physical standards, and personal character of candidates and trainees.
North Providence Police Department
The North Providence Police Department is currently accepting lateral transfers of POST certified police officers with up to five (5) years of experience. The Department is comprised of sixty-seven (67) sworn officers, who are responsible for the protection of a diverse population of approximately 34,000 residents.
