The RI Police Chiefs Association is promoting the use of effective countermeasures to support our state's impaired driving goals and objectives. The IDEC is comprised of a group of diverse stakeholders and partners from different agencies, organizations, and disciplines that bring different perspectives and experiences to the group. The members meet quarterly to evaluate the progress of the six overall objectives of the council, which are to identify specific impaired-driving problems in the state, make recommendations to reduce impaired driving in the state, identify and overcome obstacles impeding effective countermeasures in the state, identify and address any unintended consequences that may result from proposed actions, provide a network of communications and cooperation among the various stakeholders, and examine and then adopt vision zero preferred and do-able measures as decided by council members and RIPCA leadership.
